Microfiber
is synthetic fiber made of extremely thin strands that are 20 times thinner than the strand of silk, or 100 times thinner than a human hair. The most common types of microfibers are made from polyesters, polyamides, or a conjugation of the two.
The fabric is used in many branches like fashion, marketing or sport. Thanks to its’ properties it is often used in sportswear. It is breathable offers good resistance to wind and light rain.

The structure of microfiber
Let’s imagine a thick rope that bends under it’s own weight, it makes a stiff bend. Now imagine many thin threads that together have the same diameter as the thick rope. It’s easy to notice that the thin filaments bend more and move independently providing greater flexibility.
Microfiber fibers have the same effect. Each of the millions of microfiber fibers moves independently creating a unique fabric.
Microfiber use
Microfiber is a fairly new technology that quickly found application in many industries. For example, it made cleaning easier and eco-friendly. Thanks to products like microfiber towels or cloths the use of chemicals can be eliminated or drastically reduced. The special structure of microfiber filaments traps and retains dirt. Microfiber towels and cloths are soft, absorbent and do not scratch the cleaning surface.
Microfiber is also used to make clothing, towels, cleaning products, mats, upholstery, industrial filters and other. The shape and size of the fibers is combined depending on the purpose of the fabric giving it the required durability, softness, toughness, absorption, water repellency, or electrostatic and filtering capabilities.

Microfiber towels are soft, flexible and durable. They do not crepe or dust or change their shape. They withstand more washes than other materials. The microscopic fibers of the towels absorb three times as much water and almost immediately make it evaporate to make the towel dry again.

In the moment of microfiber and water contact, the fibers of the fabric split and trap the liquid. Each fiber forms 16 splits which gives even several hundreds of millions of microscopic slots absorbing the water.
Microfiber towel can absorb even 2 liters of water drying your body almost instantly.
Why microfiber towels dry fast?
The microfiber’ structure allows to divide and absorb the water particles that quickly start evaporating. The fibers then start to reconnect leaving the towel soft and dry again.
Washing the microfiber towels
Microfiber towels are produced of different synthetic fibers, thus they have different composition. The way of washing microfiber towels is the same as for other materials that have similar composition. Generally, they should be washed before the first use and the instruction on the tag should always be followed.
